Keep our gas
To the editor:
Hello out there, I hope that everyone has a safe spring. Please be careful. We would rather have you around than having you do something stupid, so be careful.
So anyway, we have been talking to people about the oil and gas prices. I think that we as Alaskans need to get together and write to our legislators and tell them we want oil and gas to stay in Alaska.
If we were to build a refinery in Alaska, not only would it create jobs and bring income, but it would lower the costs of oil and gas for Alaskans. We could call it “Alaskan Oil for Alaskans.” We have our own natural gas and oil products. There is no reason we should have to be paying outrageous prices. What about our economy? Why should we have to suffer because they are sending our oil overseas and getting ours from them? We can use the oil and gas ourselves.
We may not make much profit from it for awhile, but we would have oil and gas to heat our homes and continue to support our subsistence way of life. After all, how could we go subsisting if we can’t afford to go? And if we can’t afford to go, how can we teach our children our ways of life so they could survive?
May God bless you and keep all of you safe through the spring and summer. May he grant you a prosperous year.
