Poor oil companies
To the editor:
All these costly ads on radio, TV and newspapers about lowering the tax rate for oil companies is imposing an unfair burden on these oil companies.
Why should they have to pay all that money for those ads? The government subsidies to them should be raised to include those expenses.
And since they pay much higher taxes in other countries where they drill, we should all dig deeper into our pockets and pay whatever it takes to help them out. We could start a fund and call it “Billions for the oil companies but not one cent for the indigent.” That should do it!
And Alaskans need to be darned grateful that those benevolent companies ever came here in the first place and be the first to send money to the fund.
Send it in care of our governor. He’ll see it gets into the right pockets, er, hands, er, whatever!
