What’s behind the curtain?
It was a Wizard of Oz moment.
This morning’s meeting of the oil tax conference committee attracted a capacity crowd to the Butrovich Room on the second floor of the Capitol building.
Halfway through the meeting, chairman Bert Stedman, R-Sitka, called building maintenance to expand seating by removing a temporary partition that separates the Butrovich from another conference room.
Standing behind the partition listening to the conference committee’s debate were Senate President Ben Stevens, R-Anchorage, and Kevin Jardell, the governor’s legislative director.
News-Miner reporters Stefan Milkowski and Eric Lidji bring you up-to-date info about the governor's oil tax and
the gas line plans as well as tossing in some tidbits that have nowhere else to go.
