Both chambers looking at tax breaks on natural gas
Both the House and the Senate are working on amendments to extend Cook Inlet tax breaks to natural gas produced in other parts of the state.
The House Resources Committee is considering an amendment to remove geographic restrictions from the tax break, opening it up to all natural gas produced for in state use.
The amendment would help the Doyon project near Nenana and the Fairbanks Natural Gas project on the North Slope, but also a lot of possible gas projects in the foothills of the Brooks Range, like the one proposed by Anadarko Petroleum.
Both chambers should vote on amendments by the end of the day.
