Guttenberg gets one through
For us from R.A. Dillon in Juneau:
Rep. David Guttenberg, D-Fairbanks, introduced an amendment that would allow the state to use a “reasonable” transportation rate in figuring a company’s tax debt.
Right now the state has to accept the transportation costs the companies have filed with federal regulators. Those rates are about $5 a barrel, but state officials believe the actual cost of sending a barrel of oil down the trans-Alaska pipeline is closer to $2 a barrel. The amendment was passed without objection.
News-Miner reporters Stefan Milkowski and Eric Lidji bring you up-to-date info about the governor's oil tax and
the gas line plans as well as tossing in some tidbits that have nowhere else to go.
