Bert’s tough job
From Dillon in Juneau again:
Amendment No. 3 would set a standard deduction on the legacy fields and have a three -year sunset.
Sen. Bert Stedman, R-Sitka, is carrying the water for the oilies. He’s objected to every bill so far – even though it’s clear the votes are there for passage. The argument against the measure is that it would be a disincentive for the production of heavy oil, which has higher production costs.
The amendment passed 11-8.
News-Miner reporters Stefan Milkowski and Eric Lidji bring you up-to-date info about the governor's oil tax and
the gas line plans as well as tossing in some tidbits that have nowhere else to go.
