McGuire’s amendment goes through
From Dillon in Juneau:
Sen. Lesil McGuire, R-Anchorage, introduced an amendment to remove the sunset on exempt auditors.
Sen. Kim Elton, D-Juneau, objected to the amendment, saying exempt auditors would be too vulnerable to the whims of the administration. The four-year sunsets allows the Legislature to review the exempt program to see if it’s working.
The amendment passed by a vote of 14 to 5.
