Pfc. Michael Sawin with the Alpha Company of the 1-17th Battalion can be seen through the top of a Fire Support Stryker vehicle on display in Fairbanks on July 12, 2004. The 1-17th soldiers were among the first to receive the Stryker vehicles and enter into training. Army officials say the versatile Stryker vehicles are designed for 10 specialized variations, including reconnaissance, medical evacuation and anti-tank firepower.

The new Stryker vehicles being displayed at Fort Wainwright, Monday, July 12, 2004, which can get up to 60mph. There are different styles of Strykers, the two on the left are Infantry Carriers, which are used for infantry combat and the Stryker on the end is a Reconnaissance Vehicle, which is used to transfer soldiers.
