Description

Make your Home a Habitat: Bring the whole family to ABO to learn how to attract birds and other wildlife to your own backyard. Each family will build bird feeders and a roost box to take home.
Family Bird Banding Breakfast: Enjoy a light breakfast followed by a morning at ABO's songbird research station at Creamer's Field. Get a close look at songbirds and meet ABO scientists.

Calypso Farm Family & Small Group Field Trips

Description

Bring your family or a group to Calypso to have a fun-filled two-hour to half-day farm tour. Call us to create your own or to take one of the following tours: Seeds and Planting-Investigate the seeds of the farm and the forest with us. Honeybees-A close-up look at these busy insects. Life on the Farm-Includes planting, farm work and animals, harvestng, etc. Natural Dyeing- Learn the natural dyeing process with garden plants. Pizza Making-Make pizza dough and goat cheese, harvest herbs and vegetable toppings and bake in our wood-fired oven.

Youth Survivors Camp

Description

The camp is situated on the Upper mouth of the Porcupine River. The camp offers opportunity to learn about hunting, fishing, gathering, swimming, and other activities. Participants will stay out of doors in canvas tents with camp fire for cooking and sitting around for story times and sharing. Sometimes, we have visiting elders.

Must be 10 years old to attend without a guardian. Others may attend as long as they have someone in charge of them.

July, right after the 4th of July events. Week long sessions through the month.

Six miles downriver from Fort Yukon aobut a 15-minute boat ride.
