Ballet/Pointe
Description
In an atmosphere of encouragement and fun, students are motivated to strive for excellence in technique, grace, and poise with additional emphasis on posture, strength, energy, proper body alignment, vocabulary, and history.
Creative Dance Camp
Description
North Star Ballet Creative Dance Camp provides a comprehensive introduction to a fairy tale ballet, Carnival of the Animals, a zoological fantasy composed by Camille Saint-Saens.
In one week, children will help illustrate their very own books as they recreate the story through movement and dance. Through various activities and art projects the children will learn about the music, the setting and costuming that all add to the beauty of ballet. The week culminates with a dance demonstration where the children experience the thrill of performance as a choreographer, costume designer and dancer.
Drama Project 2009--Sessions 1 & 2
Description
Each two-week fun session features a professional theatre training program which includes the study of character development, story building, theatre games and theatre performance using newly developed vocal and physical skills.
Ensemble Theatre Company Class
Description
This 3-week program is an actual production class for young people ages 12-18 years. The class will rehearse and perform the play; "Kidnapped in London" by Timothy Mason on July 31, Aug. 1 & 2.
Fairbanks Bluegrass Camp for Kids
Description
The sixth annual camp provides a fun four days of bluegrass music instruction and performances led by the hot young nationally renowned, Alaskan bluegrass band, "Bearfoot" (www.bearfootband.com) and talented local musicians. Group and individual instruction is given in bluegrass fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, bass, and vocals. Members of the Bearfoot band have taught thousands of kids throughout the US, Canada, and Ireland. An evening square dance is part of the fun and a final student concert showcases the students' musical progress.
Fairbanks Suzuki Institute
Description
Enrollment is open to violin, viola, cello, and flute students who currently study the Suzuki literature or who are playing comparable literature. Students take three core classes and also have the option to take enrichment classes. There are daily recitals as well as an evening faculty and chamber music recitals.
FLOT Jr.
Description
FLOT Jr. is a series of week-long, age specific summer camps that teach the basics of musical theater like: acting, singing, dancing, make-up, scene painting, and making props. Each camp will rehearse for a performance to be held at the end of the week.
Groundlings Summer Camp
Description
The Groundlings Summer Drama Camp gives students exciting, professional training in theatre. Participants learn about acting, stage combat, Shakespeare and more. All classes are taught by trained theatre professionals. The culmination of the camp will be a full production of Shakespeare's classic comedy, As You Like It.
Hip Hop/Breakdance
Description
Beginning and intermediate level Hip-Hop and Break Dancing instruction includes technique, style and choreography. The most popular moves will be taught, including: up rock, ticking, locking, centipede, six step, wave, hurricane, rope pull, worm, kip up, popping, helicopter, the wall, puppet, rubberband, robot, backspin, collapse, moon walk, jester kicks, and much more. No previous dance experience required.
Music Together of the North
Description
Music Together is a family-based, mixed-age music and movement class for children ages infant-5 years and their parent(s). Participants are provided with quality, research-based recorded music and visual materials to reinforce the learning process. Classes are 45 minutes long and meet once weekly for seven Mondays. Class size is limited to 12 and pre-registration is required.
Outside the Line-Summer Session
Description
New projects will be introduced this session in drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting, design, artist's choice, and found object sculpture. Fun, individual attention and education is combined in a spacious studio in natural surroundings. Call for a pre-visit. Limit 9 students..
Summer Dance Camp
Description
Campers will learn jazz, tap, ballet and musical theatre. There will be a performance for family and friends, June 26.
Tahitian Dance
Description
Tahitan dance is a dynamic theatre art with fast movement and rhythmic vitality. Students will learn the fundamentals of Ori Tahiti, history of the dance, basic hip isolations and arm gestures, culminating in a short routine.
UAF Summer Music Camp
Description
This is an intensive two-week program of musical education for students who have finished grades 6-12 and have played their instrument at least one full year. Students learn at their own unique style and pace while enjoying many performance opportunities.
UAF Visual Art Academy
Description
The UAF Art Department will host an intensive visual arts program for students grades 6-12. Our faculty of professional Alaskan visual artists will be teaching classes in: computer art, animation, digital photography, painting, printmaking, sculpture & 3-D design, ceramics, metalsmithing, drawing and design.
Youth Summer Fiberarts Program

Week long classes for three hours each day that present concepts in art and craft through specific projects that develop youths' confidence and skill.
