ALCAN Baseball Camp
Description
Camp focus will be on individual skills so players challenge themselves regardless of skill level to develop and maintain solid habits. Training will focus on hitting: emphasis on teh ALCAN Method of Contact employed during camp; pitching, throwing, and catching: introduce and strenghten great habits: defenseive fundamentals to inspire individuals to challenge themselves and safety & respect.
Camps are age-appropriate: Camp 1: 5-6: Camp 2:7-8; Camp 3: 9-10; Camp 4: 11-12; Camp 5: 13-14
ALCAN Football Camp
Description
The camp will focus on individual skills so players challenge themselves regardless of skill level to develop and maintain solid habits as well as athletic skills with emphasis on speed, agility and quickness: offensive and defensive skills including stance, ball handling, passing, catching, blocking, reading plays, taking blocks, rotation, and safety and respect to prepare players for all kinds of game and life situations.
Camps are age appropriate: Camp 1: 5-6; Camp 2: 7-8; Camp 3: 9-10; Camp 4: 11-12; Camp 5: 13-14
ALCAN Hockey
Description
Full day program focuses on individual hockey skills; two on-ice sessions, off-ice fitness training, and hockey academy and education. Camps are age-appropriate: Camp 1: 5-6; Camp 2: 7-8; Camp 3: 9-10; Camp 4: 11-12.
ALCAN Hockey Kids Camp
Description
This full day program focuses on hockey skills; two on-ice sessions, off-ice fitness training, and hockey academy and education.
Basketball Fundamental Skills Camp
Description
This camp is designed for all levels. It will, however, be teaching individual skills with an emphasis on individual fundamentals, ball handling, shooting and defensive skills, such as body position and athleticism. Also, 1 on 1, 3 on 3, and 5 on 5 competitions will be taking place.
Basketball Team Camp
Description
Team camp will include lots of competiton with instruction on team fast break concepts, team half court offense and team half court defense as well as competition shooting games.
Basketball Youth Camp
Description
This camp is designed for beginning skill levels and will have an emphasis on passing, ball handling, all offensive skills, defense, and rebounding.
Bull's Eye Youth Archery Camp/Clinic
Description
Nationally certified instructors teach campers on individual archery levels on form, shot placement, and scoring, and intermediate and advanced students strive for shooting score patches.
Students will make arrows, learn equipment and string maintenance, and be exposed to hunter safety instruction and respect for the environment and wildlife resources. Each Friday is extended for a picnic, mini-tournament and awards ceremony. Low cost bow packages or rentals available.
Camp Kick
Description
Camp Kick teaches TaeKwon-Do training for all ages and levels: self-defense, sparring, board breaking, patterns, and provides great physical activity. Other activities include: arts and crafts, rocket building, outside fun, and kids fear factor.
Frontier Alaska Basketball Skills Camp
Description
Mike Hajdukovich and Al Sokaitis from Challenge Life will be offering a skills camp for all ages, boys and girls to better their basketball abilities and make the game a little more fun. Top players from around the state will be there learning position play and younger players will also be taught the finer fundamentals of basketball. Players will be separated by age and abilities during sessions.
This camp replaces the late July Triple Threat Basketball camp previously offered. This will be Challenge Life's biggest camp yet because older kids from team camp sessions will be attending as well as our local kids. Lunch will be offered as well to all participants.
GCI Jr. High & High School Boys & Girls Basketball Team Camp
Description
Mike Hajdukovich and Al Sokaitis with Challenge Life Youth Foundation and Clemon Johnson from the University of Alaska are bringing back Alaska's most popular team basketball camp. This year they are adding girl's teams and jr. high teams from all over Alaska. There will be plenty of competitive games, refereed by the FAI Referee Association and a great opportunity for players and their teams to get ready for next season. There will be top instructors, 9 full courts available, dorms and the UAF cafeteria available to all participants. Deposits need to be turned in by April 30 to reserve your team's spot.
North Star Golf Camps
Description
Weekly sessions include small group instruction for youth to learn the basics of golf. Focus will be on full swing, pitching, chipping, putting, safety and etiquette, rules and fun. All equipment is provided.
Skate Boarder's Camp
Description
Skateboarding Camp will use a 4-H curriculum for youth ages 10-14. Riders will learn the basic skateboarding tricks, park etiquette, how to build a skate board and terminology. The camp is for all levels of ability. Field trips will be taken using the Borough bus line.
Fees cover a one year Joel's Place membership, a new skate board, helmet, and bus pass.
Ultimate Frisbee Camp
Description
This camp is designed to teach the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, from various throws and catches to offensive and defensive stratagies. The camp will be broken up into age groups with one group just for high school age players and one for younger players.
Players should show up with water and tennis shoes or cleats. Discs will be provided. Space is limited to 50 participants only (25 in each age group).
Ultimate Frisbee Youth Clinic
Description
A three-day clinic devoted to learning the basics of ultimate frisbee from local players and the UAF ultimate frisbee club. Every camper will leave with a disc and some sweet frisbee skills.
USA Volleyball Girl's High Performance Development Camp
Description
This is the first USA Volleyball camp ever in Alaska. Each camper receives training from USA Volleyball high performance coaching cadre, lodging and meals for 4 days and 3 nights, and three USA Volleyball High Performance training shirts. Most of the training time will be spent on skill development utilizing methods to complement the USA Volleyball National Team System and to evaluate the future potential of these players as athletes for USA Volleyball.
Volleyball Advanced Skills Camp
Description
A challenging four-day volleyball training experience where development of solid technical and tactical skills will be emphasized. Each session focuses on games, contests and prizes, in a fun competitive atmosphere. Each camper will receive an Alaska Volleyball Camps t-shirt.
Training for players who are ready to compete at the high school varsity and junior varsity level.
Volleyball Beginners Skills Camp
Description
This is the place to start. A terrific three-day experience to introduce a solid foundation of the fundamental skills of the game. Lots of drills and games to develop individual skill proficiency and confidence, which lead to success in the team game. Beginners Skills Camp is a good introduction to the Intermediate Skills Camp. Each camper will receive an Alaska Volleyball Camps t-shirt.
Recommended for girls and boys with one year or less of organized training.
Volleyball Intermediate Skills Camp
Description
An exciting, fast paced, four-day volleyball camp for girls and boys focusing on the FUNdamental skills required for volleyball success. Lots of drills, games, contests, and prizes in a fun, cooperative and success- oriented atmosphere. Each camper will receive an Alaska Volleyball Camps t-shirt.
