After hearing the news of Spc Frantz (Lucas, as I called him) passing I was stunned!Sounds weird but Lucas was my neighbor in Alaska, he and his wife Kelly are from about an hour from where my parents live in Kansas so for me it hit home. My husband (former Ssg,assigned to 203rd PSB) and I PCSed(moved from Alaska to Florida) right before the post started to deploy so it became one of the things you just hear on the news. But to hear of someone that knew and partied with and played on a slip-n-slide with died in war so young with a wife at home just makes the world alot smaller. Lucas was a great guy that will surely be missed by not only his friends and family but by the country. I wish you all the best overseas and thank you for serving us, America! You are in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.

After reading this particular story of Specialist Frantz I was skeptical of writing a comment. I have spent many years in the military and I have seen many Soldiers leave this world in a way that many would have done almost anything to change. There is not a day that goes by that the 1-17 doesn't think about Specialist Frantz. I think its important to know that of all the Soldier Memorials that I have attended, there was more thought and personal attention paid to this Memorial than many many people have put into a 20 year career in the military. I would like to thank all of the Soldiers in 1-17 and a special thanks to a Soldier who Gave it his all.
